In the 5 hours at ASDA we raised a grand total of £823.23 Well done to everybody who helped through out the day, your support is really appreciated. 17/05/2009 Kayaking Kayaking and Cycling Expedition from Barnoldswick to Leeds!!! Well we have completed our largest fundraiser. I think it went fantastically, it was a hard four days but I think it was worth it. Everybody worked really hard to complete the challenge so therefore well done everybody. We started in Barnoldswick on Friday morning and had to start with the challenge of carrying 3 kayaks and the Canadian down two locks before we could even start our expedition, this was the start of a lot of locks. Joe, Josh, Ed and Eamon were the four people kaying on the first day as well as Micheal and Jonny in the open Canadian. Beth, Becka, Lizzie and Ace were riding bikes and supporting the people on the water. A big thank you to the Credland’s, the Olsson’s, the Seymor’s and the Cooper’s, Derek and Helen Wild and Eamon and his wife for transporting us and all of our gear to the start and for helping us through out the day transporting food etc. The first day went really well every body was happy cheering everybody along. The weather was ok in the morning but unfortunately while having our diner the heavens opened and we got SOAKED!!! It rained for the rest of the day but we did not let it get us down! It was hard when it came to the locks as the equipment was heavy and awkward to carry. But we all pulled together to work as a team to get everybody and all of the equipment down. Swans were one of the other problems that we found. Nesting swans and kayaks did not go well together. Eamon had a close shave when a swan tried to attack him but thanks to his quickness and his youthfulness he jumped out as quick as lighting. (Got a good video of it if anyone wants to see !) The rest of the day went smooth although the kayakers had to get out at every swan and at the locks but they managed. While we was having our second to last stop of the day James arrived. He had gone to the start straight after he had finished work and cycled to Skipton to meet us. He caught us up in just over one hour but he was a lot dirtier than we were by the time he reached us!!! Once back at Skipton we loaded the bikes and the kayaks and got dried before going to East Riddlesdin Hall were we stopped every night. Second day went even better than the first, the weather was gorgeous and there were no locks to deal with. We started from Silsden and finished in Riddelsden. Beth, Joe, Josh, Ed and Eamon were Kayaking and Jonny and James were in the open canoe and Becka, Lizzie, Micheal and Ace were on the bikes. The day past with a lot of singing and finding and collecting wet balls in the canal. The bikers did a good job of opening and shutting the bridges as well as helping us get in and out of the kayaks. Thank you to all who helped support and transport us on Saturday. Saturday night was a relaxing night at the hut, some of our parents came down to enjoy either a Chinese or a Pizza Hut. We was all in bed by 9.30 watching Cinderella. It was another early start on Sunday. We started at Riddelsdin and finished at Apperly Bridge. Eamon, James and Ed was in Kayaks and Lizzie and Joe was in the open canoe. Beth, Josh, Ace, Becka, Micheal and Jonny were on bikes. Today we strapped a bucket to the front of Jonny’s bike and we managed to raise approximately £70. Well done Jonny! The day past very quick, the weather was sunny and warm. There were still the swans too look out for and a few locks to deal with but we managed. That evening we was in bed by 8.30 watching Beauty and The Beast. Day four, the last day started at Apperly Bridge and finished in Leeds. Beth, Ed, James, Eamon, Joe were in the kayaks, Jonny and Ace started in the Canoe but then swapped so that Jonny and Micheal was on the water. Becka, Lizzie and Ace were on the bikes. The weather again was lovely. There were not as many swans in our way although there was quite a lot of locks to carry the equipment down. Ace had the bucket strapped to his bike. He managed to get some more pennies from people walking on the canal. At the end of a very tiring four days we did reached our target of getting to Leeds. It was a fantastic achievement as the Olsson’s, Cooper’s, Gallucci’s, Seymour’s, Credland’s and Walker’s cheered us on as we reached the end of the canal. Once we had packed up the cars we went back to East Ridd’s to collect our gear before going home for a nice hot bath before bed. Well done every body, we all worked hard to get to the end and everyone should be proud of this achievement. We would to thank every body who supported us before and during the expedition. 21/03/2009 Race Night Sorry about the update but we are here to right another blog for you to read, i hope you enjoy it!! ![]()

So far we have raised £353.50. Well done to all participants and their families! I think that this event has gone very well with all participants helping out. We started with delivering over 5000 leaflets to most areas around Keighley. We got a lot of the areas done while helping out the ‘Keighley Lions’ during the Santa Sleigh Runs. During the Christmas holiday we delivered more leaflets to the areas that were not covered with the ‘lions!’ Slowly we began to get people calling for their trees collecting. By the time we got to tree collecting time, we had got over 55 trees to collect. ![]() ![]()
The weekend for collecting the trees went very well a big thank you to Derek and his trailer, Jonny and his truck and James and his trailer and with the help from Beth, Joe, Ed, Michael, Tim, Lizzie and Josh we were able to get the majority of the trees collected Saturday morning. We had a few more phone calls throughout the day on Saturday which Jonny, Joe and Lizzie went to collect for us. Let’s see if we can make the next fundraiser as good as this one has been. Thank you to all who has helped. ![]() ![]()
